  Bev's Kid's Club Program

In conjunction with “Windham Reads” month, the Mill Museum (a.k.a, the Windham Textile & History Museum) in Willimantic, CT, kicks off a three-month Reading Series as part of its Kids' Club, where we will take our monthly theme from a book.

This month, on Saturday April 13, we will read "Charlie Needs a New Cloak" by Tomie DePaola, and the activities will include dyeing and weaving.

On May 11 the featured book will be "The Ink Garden of Brother Theophane" by C. M. Miller and Andrea Wisnewski, and the kids will make ink, books, and with quill pens. Students who bring a 100% cotton shirt can tie dye their shirt.

On June 8 the story of "A River Ran Wild" by Lynne Cherry will inspire a session of visiting and learning all about the Willimantic River.

All Kids' Club events are the 2nd Saturday of the month at 2-3:30 p.m. Events include a lesson, story, craft, and snack. Reservations are helpful when planning the craft and snack. The programs are geared toward students ages 5 through 12. The programs are held in the Museum's Kenton Hall program space in the Dugan Mill building, one of the Museum's historic buildings. The entrance is on Union Street.

Kids' Club membership is free and sponsored by the Mill Museum’s Fall event and exhibit, "Nightmare on Main." All other education programs at the Mill Museum are sponsored by the Mary Lou DeVivo Education Fund.
